Fat Transfer San Francisco
Performed by The Maas Clinic
As a person ages, gravity, exposure to the sun and the general everyday stresses of life can affect the appearance of one’s face.
Laugh lines, smile lines, crow’s feet or facial creases over the areas where facial muscle movement may make a person look and feel older.
Injectable fillers such as fat transfer can help temporarily fill in these lines and creases, and temporarily restore a more youthful appearance. Following injection, these fillers plump up creased and sunken areas of the face, and add fullness to the lips and cheeks. The length of time a fat transfer procedure will show results varies from patient to patient, lasting anywhere from three to six months.
More About Fat Transfer
The fat transfer procedure is known as autologous fat transplantation, and involves extracting fat cells from the patient’s abdomen, thighs, buttocks or elsewhere and then injecting them beneath the skin of the face.
Prior to the procedure, your plastic surgeon will evaluate your skin, the muscles and bone structure of your face, as well as discuss your expectations for the procedure, and your medical history.
You should avoid the sun until the redness has subsided, which typically occurs within forty eight hours. Makeup and sun block can be applied during this period to help hide your condition. The swelling and puffiness in the recipient sites can last several weeks, depending on how large an area was filled.
You may be advised to limit activity for a period of time, however many patients are able to resume normal activity almost immediately. Some swelling and bruising is to be expected in both the donor and recipient sites.
