Submental Liposuction
Excess submental (areas of the face and neck beneath the chin) pockets of fat on can be removed through submental liposuction. Liposuction doctor, Dr. Maas performs this type of cosmetic surgery liposuction by inserting a cannula (a slender tubular instrument), beneath the skin through a tiny incision. The incision is usually located below the chin or just behind the ear lobe. A suction apparatus connected to the cannula removes the unwanted fat cells.
After the fat is removed, the overlying skin contracts (shrinks) to create a contoured appearance. The fat cells removed will not reappear, but the remaining fat cells may grow larger, depending on the patient’s postoperative lifestyle.
