JUVÉDERM® Injectible Gel
Of the many injectable materials offered at The Maas Clinic, JUVÉDERM® Injectible Gel is one of the newest on the market. Like Restylane®, JUVÉDERM® Injectible Gel is an injectable dermal filler comprised of lab created hyaluronic acid, allowing for a natural looking result and gradual biodegradability. JUVÉDERM® Injectible Gel, however, is manufactured to be extensively crosslinked, creating a dense network of "bridge"-type bonds between different molecules of hyaluronic acid. The resultant larger molecules are reputed to be more resistant to resorption and therefore resulting in a longer lasting dermal correction. In fact, JUVÉDERM® Injectible Gel is the only injectable dermal filler FDA approved to last over a year and the only hyaluronic acid dermal filler that has demonstrated its safety and effectiveness in patients of all skin types and colors.
JUVÉDERM® Injectible Gel does not require a skin test, as no allergic reactions are expected. Results are immediate and natural, and ‘downtime’ is usually only a few hours but, depending on the patient, some redness and swelling may persist up to seven days.
Two configurations of JUVÉDERM® Injectible Gel are available to patients. The original, JUVÉDERM® Injectible Gel Ultra, is less dense and more appropriate for medium depth wrinkle correction, such as nasolabial folds, lip augmentation, forehead wrinkles, glabellar lines, obvious mild to moderate nasal furrows and cheek wrinkles. The second configuration, JUVÉDERM® Injectible Gel Ultra Plus is more extensively crosslinked, resulting in a more robust product effective for deeper, more pronounced facial folds and restoring volume to the sunken cheeks and lips.
