Belotero® Injections in San Francisco, Performed by Facial Plastic Surgeon Corey S. Maas MDTM

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring. substance found in the body’s connective tissues and skin as a structural foundation. With advancing age, the structural integrity of the foundational components of the skin like hyaluronic acid, collagen, and elastin all diminish. Injections of Belotero® in San Francisco  or other hyaluronic acid-based fillers can restore lost volume, creating a more youthful appearance. With special techniques developed by board-certified facial plastic surgeon Dr. Maas, it can also be used to efface fine lines. Of the many injectable materials that Dr. Maas offers, Belotero®, in Dr. Maas’ opinion, is among the best currently available choices of cosmetic filler injections for the treatment of fine lines. Other hyaluronic acid-based fillers also available in the United States include the Juvederm® and Restylane® families of dermal fillers. These products are excellent filler options for contour changes seen in the nasolabial folds, lips, or the tear trough area.

Leading the Way in Belotero® Cosmetic Treatments

The Food and Drug Administration approved Belotero® to add volume to moderate-to-severe facial wrinkles and folds. As a key consultant for Merz Corporation and one of San Francisco’s principal thought leaders on cosmetic injections, Dr. Maas was a principal investigator for the Food and Drug Administration’s Belotero® clinical trials that led to its approval.

FDA clinical trials are performed after detailed investigator meetings discussing the methods proposed for best aesthetic outcomes using hyaluronic acid gels in case as well as other agents that the FDA is considering. Possessing the longest and most comprehensive experience with Belotero in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond, Dr. Maas is the savvy patient’s choice for Belotero® treatments. Dr. Maas’ work with this product led to key technique developments and observations about Belotero’s performance, which makes it unique amongst the approved HA fillers.

Discover the Next Level of Dermal Fillers

Belotero® is the first monophasic hyaluronic acid-based soft tissue derma filler with special cross-linking technology known as cohesive polydensified matrix (CPM) technology. Compared to conventional biphasic hyaluronic acid fillers, Belotero’s cohesive polydensified matrix technology sets it apart, with a lower density than other hyaluronic acid-based fillers. There are a number of injectables now available in the Belotero® family of injectables. Belotero® Balance and Belotero® Basic have been designed for addressing up to moderate lines and lip enhancement, while Belotero® Soft is meant for fine lines and more subtle lip augmentation. For deeper wrinkles and greater volume enhancement, Belotero® Intense or Belotero® Volume may be used.

An advantage of Belotero®’s CPM technology is that the other hyaluronic acid fillers can cause a bluish hue known as the Tyndall effect if they are injected too superficially, as light is transmitted through the skin may reflect off clear HA fillers. This is not the case with Belotero®. In this sense, this product fills a niche, as a filler for superficial wrinkles that can be administered close to the surface of the skin without causing a blue hue.

Belotero’s unique structure completely fills the dermal paces and produces a lasting natural cosmetic effect with smooth transitions between treated and untreated areas. A special technique refined and employed by Dr. Maas has been adopted by many advanced injectors that we believe represents the only reliable way to treat fine lines around the lips, cheeks, and other areas with cosmetic injections without unsightly bumps or Tyndell blue.

Tailoring Solutions for Subtle Enhancements and Long-Lasting Results

Early research work at Duke University suggests that this “adjustability” may be somewhat less with Belotero® than other HA products, making it more suitable for patients who have had filler treatments before and have liked their results. As hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body, there is no allergy testing required with Belotero® or any of the other hyaluronic acid products.

However, patients may experience some mild bruising or swelling right after the treatment, which should resolve on its own within a day or two. It is advised that patients avoid activities and things that may induce additional side effects for the first 24 hours after treatment, including excessive sun exposure, strenuous exercise, heat, or alcohol.

Choose Confidence and Comfort with Belotero®

His early and extensive experience injecting Belotero® as a lead investigator, and conducting a clinical trial on the safety and efficacy of Boletero® provides an extra measure of safety and expertise for patients considering this treatment.

Patients who are concerned about potential discomfort can rest assured that Belotero® products contain lidocaine, an anesthetic that can help you feel more comfortable during and after the procedure. If you are afraid of needles or are more sensitive to pain, please let us know prior to your treatment so we can take steps to ensure your comfort during the procedure.

Belotero®

A Belotero® injection is administered closer to the surface of the skin than other filler products, and Dr. Maas may gently massage the treated area after the injection, in order to spread the product more evenly for the desired results.

The amount of Belotero® used, and the number of treatments needed will depend on the results you desire.

Instant Results, Lasting Beauty

The results of a Belotero® treatment can be seen immediately and can last from 6 months up to 18 months. Like all other hyaluronic acid-based filler treatments, the results of this treatment are temporary as your body will gradually absorb the material.

One advantage of all hyaluronic-based products; biphasic or monophasic, is that if you are unhappy with the results, injections of an enzyme called hyaluronidase can dissolve it, eliminating the effects and returning your features to their original state.
