What Is Restylane Kysse?

Restylane Kysse is a hyaluronic acid filler specifically designed to provide excellent outcomes in the lips. It contains particles that are smaller than similar products on the market and is the first FDA-approved lip filler to use XpresHAn Technology™, a proprietary manufacturing process that creates a gel that integrates seamlessly into the tissue.

Kysse’s unique formulation and textural qualities mean that it does not create a firm, structured result that can be undesirable in the lips — instead, Kysse achieves a soft, flexible feel and natural expression in motion.

How Safe Is Restylane Kysse?

Kysse is FDA-approved for use in adults 21 years of age and older. Before its approval in the United States, Kysse was available in international markets and tested in a clinical study to confirm its safety and efficacy.

HA fillers are generally very safe products with a low overall incidence of adverse outcomes or long-term side effects. If any complications arise, Kysse can be dissolved with an enzyme that expedites the natural breakdown of hyaluronic acid.

Who Should Consider Restylane Kysse Injections?

In general, there are two categories of patients who express interest in lip fillers. Some patients visit the Maas Clinic^TM because they have naturally thin lips.

Even in the peak of their youth, these patients never had the full and sensual look they hoped for. Other patients come to Dr. Maas seeking to reverse signs of aging. These patients have noticed a reduction in lip volume over time, as well as the development of fine lines around the mouth.

The Restylane Kysse Procedure

When you come to our San Francisco clinic for your lip injections, we will collect information about your health history and treatment goals to ensure that Kysse is right for you. We will also take photos before your injections so we have a baseline before creating your desired improvements. Most patients can have their treatment on the same day as their consultation. Dr. Maas will apply a topical anesthetic cream before your injections if desired.

Although Kysse contains lidocaine, and the small needle used for the injections does not cause much discomfort, some patients feel more comfortable using numbing medication. Once the cream has taken effect, Dr. Maas will place the filler in strategic points around your lips to create a smooth and even outcome. The injection process takes only a few minutes and you will be able to resume your routine immediately afterward.

What to Expect After Restylane Kysse Injections

There is no downtime and minimal aftercare following Kysse injections. You can expect to have some mild swelling after your procedure that can be managed by applying ice to the area. You may also develop small amounts of bruising around the injection sites.

In most cases, these effects are not disruptive enough to keep you from going about your day. Most normal activities — including eating, drinking and kissing — are fine, provided they are not too aggressive. Preliminary results are noticeable right away and will become more refined as the swelling goes down.
