Eye bags are the result of bulging fat pads under the eye (treated with surgery, see blepharoplasty) and hollows under the eyes (also known as “tear troughs”) are the result of cheek tissues descending with age and gravity. To correct the problem of baggy eyes, a hyaluronic acid (HA) filler like RESTYLANE® is used. Often referred to as the “lunchtime blepharoplasty,” a topical anesthetic cream and ice are all that are needed for comfort.  A minority percentage of patients will get a bruise with this treatment.
